It should be like this all year long. I get a little down this time of year when I see all the people spending so much money trying to keep up with the Joneses and going into debt to the point that they're hurting all year long. I was worried about not having the money to buy presents for my kids but I was over there the past couple of days and their home made Christmas tree was surrounded by gifts donated by my grandson's school. It's people like that who are a blessing to us this time of year. They go out of their way to see that all the kids have presents no matter how little they have. These teachers are really awesome. They take the time not only to go out and buy gifts, but some of them spent hours making things like home made cookies and candy just to give away to these kids. And some of them are having it just as rough as the rest of us and go out of their way to make it good for someone else's kids. So if you have kids who are in school, take the time after Christmas when they get back in school to send them a little card thanking them for all their hard work and dedication. They are truly worth the effort. I hear so many bad things about teachers but if not for them where would we be? Seems like every year we worry about how we're going to get presents for our own kids, but we don't think too much about others who have it even harder than us. What if we all started a fund just for helping them to do better not just this time of year but all year long? I would be so happy to be part of a program that gives to those less fortunate. I think as marketers we have the power to change the world and if we think of others and do what we can to help there's no limit to what we can do. The Christmas spirit doesn't have to be just at Christmastime it can be all year long. What can we do to help? Let's start donating out 10% to a charity each month and see how many we can help.
