Thomas your presentation of Los Angeles is superb! I wish I had read it in 1984 when I was trying to navigate the wild west.
I loved Chinatown -the movie bit had to see it twice to get the history out of it.
I remember folks being quite serious with advice on getting the right zip code and area code-it was a good predictor that this was going to be 'different'!
I could almost always picture cowboys riding horses as I would drive over that beautiful landscape-the buildings and people hardly make a difference to the realness of the land-that is a very unique thing.
