Scammers Prey on Trusting People!
8/14/2005 12:02:45 PM
Good Sunday to You all, As I was going thru My sunday Paper this morning, Something grabbed my attention. It seem that scammers are getting more cleaver. Here's the latest...... Someone calls and say's they are from an Internet publishing company or the Information Verification Agency or just simply that they are operator #63. Very Vague introduction there. The caller goes on to tell you that your banking information has been posted on the internet. But his company can help you get it taken off the internet and out of the hands of scammers. All is this caller needs is your checking and savings account numbers. The Better Business Bureau has recieved telephone calls this week from a lot of seniors reporting that they have gotten a lot of calls like these. They are the target of a telephone scam. My own Mother had called me to let me know she has gotten the same phone call, She told them "She wasn't falling vitim to their scheme and You are not getting MY info" SHe then Hung Up! She actually said more, but nothing I can repeat here. LOL A Better Business Bureau Member Company reported getting a phone call From Someone claiming that there were error codes on the last three CC transactions they made. To Determine the problem the caller just needed the three Credit Card #"s. Fortunatly the company staff person was wise enough not to give out the information. Please be quick on your toes and don't give out personal information for any reason. Even if you think it's your own bank calling you, get there name and call your local bank yourself to find out if this person is an actual employee. You never can tell who is actually on the other end of the phone. Have a Great Day, Stay safe all. :)

hey are trying anything they can to get to people. I can't understand why people need to hurt other people. God never inteneded for us to be this way. Our world isn't what it is supposed to be!! It won't be long before God steps in and puts a major halt to all this Kat

Hi Eileen, yes they are working hard to scam! Locally we've had numerous phone scams one involves calling you and saying that someone has just charged a huge amount on your credit card asking if it was really a legit charge. They then proceed to suggest that they check check your other charge cards for you in their extensive data base, ASKING FOR AND GETTING YOUR NUMBERS .... wheww people get caught in these scams and then lose out big time! Apparently they concentrate on elerly card holders! WATCH FOR THIS ONE!
