On one of our journeys in the woods  we stumbled on an unknown wild flower (at least for me), can somebody help me?

Hi Photo of the Week Team!

I would like to submit this picture  taken on the last day of August while hiking in the hills above Lake Sonoma in California.  It was a windy weekend but the wind had stopped and the heat of the day made the shade of the old oak tree a welcome refuge.
