"TEENS IN ACTION"
There are so many great kids that do wonderful things in our Communities, but far too often the public never hears about those youths. This week I chose to write about a Teen Group called "Alex's Lemonade Stand".
"Alex's Lemonade Stand" was started back in July of 2000 by Alexandra "Alex" Scott. Alexandra was diagnosed with cancer 2 days before her 2nd birthday, and when she turned 4 years old in 2000 she decided she wanted to raise money and donate the proceeds to her hospital to help find a cure for cancer. Every year since there has been an annual lemonade stand fund raiser held to raise money for Pediatric Cancer, and there has been $5 million raised to present. In 2004 Alex lost her fight against cancer...she passed away peacefully, yet the lemonade stands still continue on in her name.
Alexandra raised $1 million for Pediatric Cancer while fighting her own cancer before she passed away. Alex inspired many thousands of people, from all walks of life, to raise money and give to her cause.
If you would like to learn more about, or run your own, "Lemonade Stand" please write to;

This is just another great example of what our youth of today are doing to try and make our world a better place.
