Nick, members, you captured the essense of Christmas thank you for the love i read so far about rabbi Jesus. For your thread Nick -Matthew 1:18

18.Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah happened in this way. When his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, before they lived together she was discovered to be pregnant by the Holy Spirit. 19.Her husband Joseph, being a righteous man and unwilling to disgrace her, decided to divorce her secretly.1

20.After he had thought about it, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, don't be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because what has been conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus,because he is the one who will save his people from their sins.”

22.Now all this happened to fulfill what was declared by the Lord through the prophet when he said,

23.    “See, a virgin will become pregnant

  and give birth to a son,

      and they will name him Immanuel,

which means, “God with us.” 24.When Joseph got up from his sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary ask his wife. 25.He did not have marital relations with her until she had given birth to a son and he named him Jesus.  Just so you'll know everyone is that the name Jesus means " The Lord saves" God_bless you friends. Merry Christmas. Thomas

And let's not forget the King James Version.  Matthew 1:18 - 25

Matthew 1:18-25 (King James Version)

 18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.

 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

 24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

 25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Oh Little Town of Bethlehem

O little town of Bethlehem,
How still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by;
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee to-night.

For Christ is born of Mary,
And gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love.
O morning stars, together
Proclaim the holy birth!
And praises sing to God the King,
And peace to men on earth.

How silently, how silently,
The wondrous gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of his heaven.
No ear may hear his coming,
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive him, still
The dear Christ enters in.

Where children pure and happy
Pray to the blessed Child,
Where misery cries out to thee,
Son of the mother mild;
Where charity stands watching
And faith holds wide the door,
The dark night wakes, the glory breaks,
And Christmas comes once more.

O holy Child of Bethlehem!
Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin and enter in,
Be born in us to-day.
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us,
Our Lord Emmanuel!

And one of my favorite carols

Still, Still, Still

Today's daily reading was too good not to share: Ezra 7; Daniel 8; Revelation 3:7-22

"When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?" Psalm 8:3-4

This text was placed on the moon by the first U.S. astronauts. One of them, Jim Irwin, gave his testimony later at a little church in Florida where he had been saved. He was a man of small stature and very humble spirit. Irwin's words were to this affect: "More wonderful than me going to the moon for my country was God's Son coming to the earth for me."

"Was it for me, for me alone, the Saviour left His glorious throne; The dazzling splendors of the sky, was it for me He came to die? -- J. M. White

A child, born in humble surroundings, with a bright star as his nightlight and without the assitance of mass-communication, has shown the world what love really means...

and if you think about it, centuries later, without video tape of the historic moment, we still know of Him, and remember how He lived, how He promoted love of God, love of thy brothers, sisters, even of those who are your enemies...

During this season of hope, of love, let us go forward with the courage, strength & faith that we can make a difference, we can share, and we can love our fellow man.....  and perhaps, one person at a time, we will build a world where love, compassion and kindness are the norm.  Where the wonderful, caring works of beautiful, kind, loving people dominate the news....

Wow, imagine, what a world it could be.....

With joy & love for all of my friends,

JeanMarie
