The officer on guard was shaken to the depths of his soul and hastily left the scene of execution.
He took leave from his post and avoided during the rest of his life to have anything to do with the enemies of the Bab.
Sam Khan, the chief of the execution squad, was overwhelmed by all that had taken place. He too remembered what the Bab had said:'If your intention is sincere, it is assuredly possible for the Almighty to liberate you from your dilemma.'
For Sam Kahn it was as if the Lord had indeed freed him from killing this Holy Man. He decided that he would deal no further with this execution and ordered his regiment to march away immediately from this place and told the authorities he would not take part in this unjust arrangement.
'I refuse ever to let me and my regiment deal with anything that may hurt the Bab' the least ,he said. '...even if it will cost my life' he shouted as he marched off the place.
A colonel of the bodyguard volonteered to carry out the execution,
Bab and His friend was hung up a second time against the same wall and in the same manner as the first time. Another regiment took over, a moslem one, and while they formed themselves in rows the Bab gave His last words to the crowd:
'O wayward generation, if you had believed in Me, each one of you would have done the same as this youth, and joyously offered up his life in My path. The day will come, when you have recognized Me, but on that day I shall no longer be with you.'
There was a silence following His words and nothing but the clicking of the muskets was heard. The colonel shouted his order. Sevenhundred and fifty muskets were fired.
Bab and and Muhammad bodies were thoroughly pierced and broken into one single bloody mass.
His own people had killed Him just as the prophecy had predicted. The face of the Bab was miraculously wholly unharmed.
At the moment of firing, a storm with with tempestous winds blow up and swept into the town of Tabriz. The fierce winds stirred up thick clouds of dust, that covered the sun hiding the vision of the masses. The entire region of Tabriz was kept in this darkness from noon on the day of this execution until noon the next day.
All this is confirmed as facts and happened on the 9th of July 1850 in the thirtyfirst year of the Bab. The yard of the military block of Tabriz became a new Golgata.
William Sears reminds us (in his book 'Release the Sun', p 182) that this was the predicted hour in the Old Testament, of which is written in Amos Book 8:9.:
'And it shall happen on that day, the Lord says, that I shall let the sun set while in its midday hour and let the earth sink into darkness at noon.' (My own falthy translation)
Soon after this darkness,, there was an earth quake in the home town of the Bab, Shiraz,. The whole town was shaken and thousands of people died. Thereafter there was a famine and cholera broke out.
The regiment of sevenhundred and fifty men who executed the Bab lost twohundred and fifty men in an earthquake in Ardibil, while the remaining part, fivehundred men were shot after committing mutiny in Tabriz.
The fate of the prime minister: death by order of the king, The shah and his son was killed little later.
These are but a few historic facts that confirms the saying that very violent destinies await them who rise against the New World Religion.
Today it is spreading into all parts of the world working for universal unity and peace in a global world order.
At evening time on the 9th of July the pierced remains of the Bab and Ali were moved to the edge of the moat outside the town. Four troups, each of ten man were ordered to watch over the dead bodies.
On the 10th of July the Russian consul in Tabriz accompanied by an artist, whom had been given the task of drawing a scetch of the two bodies, arrived at the moat . Somebody has said about the scetch:
'It was such a faithful portrait of the Bab.!...Not one bullet had hit His forehead, his chins or His lips. I saw a smile still lingering in His expression.'
A follower of the Bab heard about the execution and came from Teheran. He came too late, to his horror. He had heard about the deathpenalty and come to Tabriz in an effort to save Him. He decided to save the bodies, in spite of the guards. He succeeded, the guards slept during the night that followed, and the remains of the Bab and Ali were saved to be kept secretely, supervised by Bahaullah, in various places right up to our age.
Nicolas says in his history: 'The most assertive material of evidence from real eye witnesses of this drama and by such as took part of it, leaves me in not the slightest doubt that Babs body was carried away by pious hands and finally... was given a burial that was worthy of Him.'
He now rests in the wonderful maosoleum,( erected by the Bahais of the world) that is built on the slopes of Mount Carmel in Haifa, Israel.
