Hello Thomas,
My prayers have been sent in support of the Vanderbilts in their time of distress.
As I have much knowledge in this field, I will add that mold is preventable and is usually a symptom of neglect in the upkeep of home heating and cooling systems. I have had many customers tell me that it is nothing to worry about. And they choose not to address the problem, because of the expense. Not to mention the health hazard.
However an ounce of prevention is cheaper than a ounce of the cure. As global warming becomes more of an issue so will mold and the sick home syndrome.
Seasonal service is recommended by a HVAC professional and heeding their advice is key.
Respectfully,
Jim
