Hello Janet,
My apologies if you felt this was intended for you, but if the shoe fits LOL, just kidding.
I recently received some invites to become friends, from complete strangers and their intent was obviously an advertisement. I have been guilty of the same, too.
As the invitation to become friends, is exactly what it implies, I personally feel that that is what it should be, in a social networking community. You see we all have very nice "Profile Pages" provided by the community. These pages should be utilized and complete as possible. This I learned from you Janet. It is called relationship building/marketing something I also learned from you.:-) See I pay attention.
The only issue you and I have ever had is what we call what we do. As you know all to well, I have been a commissioned salesperson for nearly 30 years. You call it Relationship Marketing and I call it Salesmanship, because nothing happens until the sale is made.
Therefore, even when we are meeting and making new friends we are selling ourselves. Because if you don't like your salesman, you ain't gonna buy, are you? My direct sales experience and my income is dependent on the initial greeting and my clients and I find common ground during my 2 hour appointment time in your home. I am very good at that, but I never get in the door if I lead with my sales pitch. Simple fact.
Janet, over the years I have learned a lot from you and value our relationship. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding.
Sincerely,
Jim
