A message for the US...
11/21/2007 7:04:37 PM

To all my friends, colleagues, loved ones and all of you living in the U.S ...

I just wanted to wish you all a very happy thanksgiving.

Unfortunately, I feel like maybe we are missing out on something here in EU, as we don't celebrate ... It's just another day at the office for us!!!

So, please make sure you enjoy and party for those of us who are working!!! LOL

May it be a wonderful day for you all

Namaste

Venerina

Hi Venerina,

Thanks for your kind Invitation and your lovely wishes.  Since you are not able to start the Holiday Season off with Thanksgiving, let's go ahead and get a jump on it anyway.

A Holiday Prayer

The blessings we ask for this season
Aren't the kind that come wrapped in a bow;
We're asking for gifts from the heart,
Ones we need and never outgrow.
May we see in these bright decorations
With their colors and lights all aglow,
The beauty and wonder of life
That God's world was created to show.
Let the peace and goodwill of this season
Be feelings that we can extend
Far into the following year
To our neighbors, our family, and friends.
Most of all, may we always remember
To open our hearts every day and share all the love and the joy
In a special and meaningful way
.

Thank you V. I will be assisting to feed the needy. Then I will have my meal with friends, and I will remember you as we go to table.

Hello Venerina,

Thanksgiving is a wonderful celebration of being thankful associated with many traditions from the variety of cultures of this vast melting pot.

Our tradition is first about focusing on our gratitudes of the many blessings we have received through the years.  It is a great time of reflection.

We always have a traditional noon meal of turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, stuffing, asparugus, corn, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls... I cannot think of everything at the moment.  But, later on that is followed by pie of some sort such as pecan pie, apple pie, cherry pie and always pumpkin pie (with whipped cream).  Then everyone is helped to several servings of a good walk.

You would think it is all about the food, but it isn't.  The conversations, laughter, smiles, tears, touches and hugs while preparing the food, consuming it and cleaning up afterwards is priceless.

Afterwards, my bunch always follows up the tradition of board games, walks and watching the NFL Dallas Cowboy game!

It is also the day before we start our official celebration of Christmas.

Thank you for the wish of happiness.

Joe

PS:  In the US, it is also the official day-off for chickens.
