Greetings Stephen,
And hi to you too Rose, if you're reading this. Steve, The rose in the picture you sent, is a 'Peace-rose'. How do I know this? Well, I was raised up in the nursery & landscape business. And my grandafther on my Dad's side was a rose-specialist. That man could grow anything, and had the biggest, reddest, juiciest 'maters you ever ate in the hot steamy sun. Yep, right off the vine!
But his real touch was black roses, or so-called the 'Death Rose'. Any gardener worth his salt will tell you the death rose is one of the hardest plants to grow anywhere. But 'Pop', as the whole family called him, was an expert at them. He had 5 or 6 at one time, then as he got older, got rid of all but two. And they grew big and bushy beautifully, even in the snow. When he passed on, the two rose bushes followed him soon after.
But here's the REAL kicker. He loved roses so much that he married one. She outlived him by about 12 years so she was NOT a death rose. And her favorite rose was the Peace Rose.
So, Rose coming from an old hippie in Kentucky here's sending you Peace. Peace to a Rose. Thank you for being here and being who you are. Keep it up, OK?
Your Friend,
Benton Middleton
