Hello Georgios,

I'm glad to see our National Day to be referred here. 28th of October is a great day for all Greeks around the world. It is a great day too to all countries which involved in the 2nd World War as Greece was the only country which resisted to Italians and Germans for so many days, 219 to be accurate. Most of other countries, like France, Denmark, Poland, Netherlands resisted for only a few days although they had a better army and were wealthier countries. This is the reason that W. Churchhill had said : Greeks fights like heroes and heroes fight like Greeks. Also Greeks had the most victims (10% of Greek population) when other countries had about 2% -5% of their population.

From the ancient years, Greeks used to have parades for eache ceremony or celebration. This continues in our days and most when we have a National Day.

Hello Dimitra!

Thank you for the commnet. Yes, it  is true that Greece is the key of the world. In all times Greece and the Balkan were the key to all wars. Greece was always alied to the winners but always treated like a looser (WW I 1918, WW II 1945), but as the prophecies say next war we will win without even be involved.

Always to defend Fathers land, family and property.

We were always the hindrance and the thorn for all attackers.

We stopped the persians in 490 BC Maraton, in 481 BC in Thermopylae, during t
he Byzantine Age 395 AD-1453 AD Greece and Balkan stopped the Arabs to expand in Europe. Greece was the Shiled to Europe and European culture.

1940, Greeks said first NO to the Italians and together with the Serbs we fought the Germans.

The battle in Thermopylae, May 1941 and the battle of Crete are the sources to the your quote of Churchil's you are referring to.
