Most birds land facing into the wind; they spread their wings and land with their belly facing into the wind.   Have you noticed their little backward wing movements to keep them from coming in too fast?

Way Cool!  The US military developed the Osprey Helicopter that lands with it's belly facing into the wind too. 

You can learn a lot from nature.
