The word Proverb is taken from the Latin word proverbium. Proverbs speak to a simple truth or are often considered common sense, but are expressed usually in a one line sentence. Proverbs are words of wisdom passed down from generation to generation. They contain wisdom that have inspired and motivated many over time. They can be witty and amusing. Most proverbs and sayings are one liners but have true meaning in them.
