We are marching in solidarity with the monks and ordinary people of Burma who are risking their lives for freedom and democracy.

We appeal to the religious and secular communities across the world not to look the other way while the people of Burma cry out for international support.
Saturday 6th October
12 noon – worldwide
More information to follow

*--URGENT UPDATE--*
From internal source: It is heard that the junta has set a plot to assassinate the most senior venerable monks (Sanga Maha Naryaka) tonight as if it is done by the monks involved in the protest.

We still have live contacts in Burma. We are getting reports of a massacre at a temple last night, around 200 monks killed. We will try to confirm this as soon as possible.

They are arresting and imprisoning monks- so far over 700 have been arrested.
They have raided dozens of monasteries
While the regime is stating only 9 have been killed the number is far closer to 200
They have snipers on tops of buildings to pick of the leaders
They are trying to suppress the violence.
We MUST protest!

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
1 - Protest - Look below for details of worldwide protests. Contact US Campaign for Burma to sign up to hold a march, vigil or any sort of event in your area- thelma@uscampaignforburma.org

2 - Spread the word - Invite your friends to this group, email all your family and friends, write to local newspapers

Hello Beth!

I condemn the in BURMA (Μyanmar) and any dictatorship in world. My country and I personally have experienced an American ruled dictatorship and we know the result of any kind of dictatorships.

BURMA is for the moment the center of all eyes. There are  many power countries involved and people in Burma will suffer.

One side
Russia and China, and some other Indochina countries

Second side
USA, EU and many countries close to USA.

My opinion
I condemn both sides for acting only for economic interests. This is a new set up by interests control of people.

I would like to help people in Burma. This is an internal matter of the Burma People. First the people there have to decide to organize their actions against their "rulers". As soon as they decide what form of leadership they want, then it is a matter for us from outside to take part as non economical activist organizations.
I will wait on the official actions from the local peace activist groups.

I rise my voice against the generals and I will through the EEDYE (Greek organization for global peace) take part. I do not support local Government politics that go under the USA umbrella because I know that USA acts only for the oil reserves in Burma.

I have not seen the great religion leaders take part and that is a shame. It is also a religious matter in Myanmar.

Peace and freedom to all monks. I applause to that.

Georgios
PS It is my opinion and this can be different form others.
I respect everyone's attitude so I want mine to be respected.

Thanks so much Georgios for explaining the more political aspectis of what is going on from all sides in Myanmar/Burma...

Please let us all know more about how to help in a way that helps the people and monks of this country...

What you may not have understood is that this is a grassroots movement that began because a young student who was backpacking in the country began sending messages to his friends via Facebook... and not as a part of any governmental organization....

It will be of interest if
EEDYE (Greek organization for global peace) is also going to take part in the international day of protest on October 6th....

be safe....
Beth

Beth, there is really little more that I can say, that has not been said.
Our good friend Georgios has said it all for us and all I can say is, to me, it is what we can expect in the world, that we live in today.
Its common place that people who stand for good and a peaceful existence will be victimized and what is happening here is straight out victimization of the Monks who are peaceful and very spiritual people. Keith.
