Jim,
Thank you for these words-they are so true! My son is now in Iraq as of Saturday.
I have been gearing up to deal with it for some months now and actually had my "mommie meltdown" a week early.
When I settled down, I got into the rhythm of collecting pecans every morning to send to him and collecting whatever I can think of to send when I get the word on whats allowed.
By now, I have put him safely in God's hands with his grandma I'm sure calling the shots-you would have had to know her to know that merely being dead would not keep her from watching over her only grandson:)
I'm very proud of him and I know that he is going to do his job-nothing less and history will take note of what has been sacrificed and won in this arena.
I have seven months to prepare for his return so I am joyfully waiting for him to come back home.
