Once near Paris, I  attempted to speak French... from a book.  After I recited a few questions, I distinctly remember hearing one word over and over... "effronterie"... over and over!!
Monsieur,
vous faites pas s'entretenir,
mais vous donnez mon oreilles très effronterie.
It was so nice of them to compliment my attempts to speak the native language and to be assured that they were not insulted.  :) 

They even paid my train fare back to where I came.  Wasn't that wonderful!

Except, I didn't get to stay in Paris but until the next departing train.
