An article about the accident was in today's edition of Prensa Libre, the main newspaper of Guatemala. It says that three sisters, ages 17, 20, and 23, were killed at 5:30 AM when the cab of a truck struck them as they waited to cross The Roosevelt (a main road in Guatemala City) at 8th Avenue. The driver of the truck survived and is hospitalied and in a coma. The police explained that the cause of the accident was excessive speed and wet asphalt.
My family and the mission team did not see the sisters. Our handiman was working in the city yesterday. He talked with someone who was also at the scene. The sisters had just purchased masa (flour used to make tortillas) for their family business and were on their way home when they were killed.
We continue to thank the Lord for his protection. We are praying for the family of the sisters and for the driver.
