Waiting Is a Blessing...

Waiting Is A Blessing

Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you
compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who
wait for him! (Isaiah 30:18 NIV)

Yes, you read it correctly. "Blessed are all who wait for him!"

We may find it difficult to comprehend that waiting could be a
blessing. We'd prefer not to wait. We don't like to wait for our food.
We don't like to wait for the movie to start. We don't like to wait for
answers to our questions. We do not like to wait for information.

While we don't like to wait, the prophet from God gives us three
reasons why waiting really is a blessing.

We are blessed when we wait on the Lord because the Lord longs to be
gracious to us. He doesn't just think about being gracious to us, He
longs to be gracious. Sounds like He is looking for opportunities to be
gracious to us. He longs to be gracious (kind and merciful) to us. He
does not have to be gracious to us. We certainly do not deserve it.
Yet, He longs to be gracious to us. That's worth waiting for.

We are blessed when we wait on the Lord because the Lord rises to show
us compassion. Obviously the Lord never sleeps or slumbers (Psalm 121:4),
but this statement brings to my mind the image of the Lord getting up
in the morning, checking his notes, and saying, "Well, let's see what
can I do to show Tom how compassionate I am today? What can I do to
show Tom how sympathetic I am as he goes through a difficult day? How
can I show Him how concerned I am about Tom and his family?" Or,
perhaps the Amplified Bible explains it better: "He lifts Himself up,
that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you." Sounds
like He enjoys showing us compassion.

See waiting as a blessing?

We are blessed when we wait on the Lord because the Lord is a God of
justice. That reminds me that I do not need to spend a great deal of
time trying to make sure that justice is handed out to people. God is a
God of justice. He will take care of it. Justice is His business.
Justice is His nature.

It also helps to see waiting as a blessing when we more fully
understand what Isaiah had in mind with the word wait:

Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who
[earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for
His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His
matchless, unbroken companionship]! (Isaiah 30:18 Amplified Bible)

The last part of that explanation can help us develop a better
appreciation for waiting: When we "expect and look and long for Him
[for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His
matchless, unbroken companionship!"

As you wait for the Lord to do what the Lord longs to do, rises to do,
and is His nature to do, look for Him, look for His victory, His favor,
His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken
companionship.

Waiting can be a blessing.

Waiting is not just about time as we usually understand this word.  It's about trusting, putting faith in, and depending on as in Isa 40:13 "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength...."  ie They that wait upon, trust in and depend upon the Lord shall renew their strength...

Blessings,

Only for those who believe can they renew there strength (mentally) then  (physically) it will take shape. Not all get the meanings or understand Gods interpretations in the Bible nor we will ever,1 Corinthians 2:11. We are not perfect but the one who sent Him to us... is. We do however can try to figure out Gods understanding of us through the book of Isaiah which is one of my favorite learning tools to use for my Church, i often stay in the New Testiment being a Disciple i also learn from the Old as well as the new, a better understanding. The meaning in the Scripture in Isaiah you shown us was God speaking to the Israelites, waiting for the Christ to come. Just a I or anyone who believes in the Faith are waiting to see Him. Resources are not limited of this Faith. 1 Corinthians 2:1-5 and Judges 6:11-16. Thank you for your feedback my friend... its always good to share and grow 2 Peter 3:18 Bt grow in the Grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesu Cjrist. To him be the glory both now and forever! Amen.

I miss the scripture reference.  It's Isa 40:31.

Waiting on the Lord is very important.  When we lived in the USA we trusted in and on the Lord but it wasn't always a daily thing.  Or at least we weren't always aware of our total dependence on Him.  Here in Guatemala it's a moment by moment realization of our dependence upòn Him.

Just this morning as my son & daughter-in-law were taking the mission team fromour church in Virginina to they airport they experienced the protecting hand of the Lord.  They were on one of the main strets og Guatemala City.  A semi-truck cab passed them at high speed, turned in front of them and rolled over. Ejecting the driver.  As they passed by they saw him laying in the street.  Before they could pull over and render assistance a cab came sliding up and struck the driver throwing him 20 or more feet.  The traffic behind them was trying to stop but because of the wet streets they couldn't stop very quickly began hitting  each other.  Because of the danger of being hit , they pulled away from the immediate scene and called 9-1-1.  A minute of two earlier or later and they could have been involved in the accident.

Thanks for a God that acts on behalf of those who wait before Him.

Just goes to show that God is there with them as they are protected in his love. Dear friend Bob thank you for sharing with us of such a close call to tragedy to your family, times like these make you aware of who's really in-charge dont it? I am so happy to hear or read that they are ok, as for the driver of that semi? sounds like he's a little banged up? is there any reports on the news yet about that tragedy?
