Hello Paulina,
I would like to thank you for accepting the role of moderator for BFA. Based on what I have seen so far I'm confident that you will make this forum a regular destination for all community members to find out valuable information about community forums.
The BFA role is to inspire and reward members who bring quality, consistency and professionalism to this community.
The judging process has been introduced in this award to highlight elements of the forums we are looking for and to bring into light qualities and hard work of those who help this community grow.
I have heard that some people believed that voting and judging at the same time are not necessary.
Combination of voting and judging allows our judges to limit their reviews to just top 5 forums. To properly review forums, judges have to go and read all threads. This is time consuming and limiting total reviews to just 5 forums allows for better judgment.
Voting itself also shows which forums are popular.
Today we have also brought under discussion one additional criteria which would be based on voting. Initial name for this criteria would be "Top Voted Forum" and would be receiving from 1 to 5 points where top voted forum would receive 5 points, the second 4 and so on. This way members who have lots of friends and create lots of discussions get rewarded for bringing visitors to our site.
This new criteria would have 16% influence on the final mark.
And don't forget that at the end of the year we will vote forum of the year which will win $1000 prize.
There is still chance to produce good forum even from scratch.
Bogdan
