I thought it would be interesting if everyone would post their favorite spooky story, superstitions, etc..

I agree with you 100%.. I do not put much emphasis on superstitions or myths.

But I have heard many many things over the years.  Other than the ladders and sidewalk,

breaking a mirror = 7 years bad luck,

if you are cooking and stir with a knife = you are stirring up trouble,

those are just a couple.  lol

Also I've heard that contrary to popular belief, black cats are actually lucky omens (and not bad).

But yes, I think it will definitely be interesting to see what responses we get here :)
