What a wonderful story. Thanks for sending me the link. Reading what you had to say put me in mind of the stories my Grandma and Mum told of their days living near London during the Blitz with the blackout curtains, and bombs falling and all the parties and good times they had in spite of what went on around them My aunt gave parties for the American and Canadian troops. To get into the party they had to donate something. That's how my aunt got around rationing, they always had chocolate, sugar and nylons.
