Hi Monica, In Florida and about 7 other states, June 18th is 'Juneteenth' Day. It commemorates the day in 1865 when the last state (Texas) was informed of the Emancipation Proclamation which President Lincoln had signed into law 2 months after the Civil War. It took a long time for everyone to get the news back then, so 6/18 was chosen as the date to celebrate a true defining moment in US history.
