One Voice-Praise and Glory

"May God . help you live in complete harmony with each other-each with the attitude of Christ Jesus toward the other. Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God .." (Romans 15:5-6 NLT)

Entering God's presence together requires careful preparation.

Congregational worship isn't as simple as walking through the doors of a church and singing a few songs. In worship we enter the presence of the living God and declare his praises.

While his arms are open to everyone, not just anyone can snuggle up next to him. The psalmist declared, "Who may climb the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies . They alone may enter God's presence and worship the God of Israel." (Psalms 24:3-4, 6 NLT)

Preparing our hearts for community worship requires, first and foremost, that we cleanse ourselves of anything that comes between us and our God. As I've said before, we cannot work our way into holiness - that is the work of God, the spirit of Christ within us.

But part of the Holy Spirit's work is to make us aware of our sins, and once he's done that, our "work" is confessing those sins and jettisoning them from our lives - confession and jettison.

What is sin? Anything that separates you from God; anything the Holy Spirit says is sin; anything that pushes God down in your life or out of your life; anything you wouldn't do with Jesus right by your side. The fact is, of course, he isn't right by your side; the Spirit is inside you, placed there by God at the moment of your salvation.

Hi Thomas,
that is an interesting point you raised which brings to mind our Sunday service that begins with a moment of contemplation in how we have failed God, ourselves and our neighbours, confession of our sins and asking for forgiveness.  It is important to come to God with a pure heart having confessed and repented.  Only from there can we expect and desire his grace.

I have a question for you that I hope you and anyone else in this forum can give of your opinion.  In one of our housegroups our next topic is 'The Big One - Suffering' ie how can a loving God allow such terrible things such as 9/11, the Boxing Day Tsunami and the Holocaust to name just a few to happen?  Indeed my 12 year old daughter asked me just the other day how could God allow someone to snatch that little girl Madeleine McCann away from her family?  It really is 'the big one' as far as questions regarding faith is concerned and I truly value your opinion Thomas.  Anyone else please feel free to pitch in!

Wow Sue okay let me see if i can answer " The Big One" as you put it, there are as you mentioned like the Tsunomi? That my dear friend is a Natural Disaster and cannot be helped, the world in itself is changing and we must be prepared for that as an individual for Jesus' sake. 9/11 was a terrable tragedy as well as the Holocost which both happend, not by God but by man. The Value of ones heart determans his or hers destiny. I was thinking of this scripture yesterday in my friend Sammys forum, " Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city". Proverbs 16:32. It may not apply to this reply you want to know about but it is a good one never the less. " The Fear of the Lord teaches a man wisdom, and humilidy comes before honor." Prov. 15:33. Being in fear of the lord is not to be afraid, im a God fearing person, have you ever heard that one before? To fear Gods rath is one sure fire way of making you know who really is in charge of your life! We are working on so many safety issues as a sociaty but only God can bring Salvation to your safety. We pray for safety for our children and for our familys and for our friends, it is up to us to spread the good news and maybe save someones eternal life one day ,but we cannot force them to drink what you drink. "Spiritual Food" is good for the soul, in the meantime we have to depend on the Law of the land because God says so. Justice in man is not always right, but God's is. I hope im not to deep? im sorry for my " Thinking out loud" comments. I am here for you Sue if you ever need me or anyone else for that matter? I try, we all do. God_bless you my friend.

Hi Sue,

Thanks for allowing me to have a say in this attempt to give a Godly answer to your question.

Sin is a very destructive force, not only will it cause death to the natural body and cause your soul to be eternally lost but also will cause the earth to be destructive. When sin entered the garden of Eden and Adam sinned he caused a perfect gift of God to become contamanated and gave satan rights in the earth that he did not have and satan is wicked and will polute everything God meant for good to be used for destruction because he want your soul to be lost in hell with him. The problem is sin and many will suffer because of sin. That why the it is an urgent call for Beleivers to take the Word of God into all the world because when Its accepted and acted upon It is the power of salvation for all that beleives. Luke 10-19 tell Belivers that we have the power over satan. Another scripture I found very enlighting to me is proverbs 3:5-6.

I hope you can at least find a smal amount of help in these few words.

May the God of Peace continue to Bless you.
