Hello to all hearing impaired!
I was a victim of a bad ear infection as a 10 year old boy. I lost my hearing in both ears twice while struggling with infection, until the age of 19 when I ended up in the hospital with exploratory surgery on my right ear, because of a benign tumor that is called a cholesteatoma. Big word huh?! When I woke up from the surgery, I discovered that I had the tumor removed, but that the doctor reconstructed my middle ear and made a new eardrum. My hearing is about 35% of normal in that ear. I have struggled with nerve damage and with hearing normal conversation in a room. Thank God for hearing aids! I view a website that caters to the hearing impaired as a wonderful thing. And, may I add that we hearing impaired do visualize our surroundings more intensely, such as lip reading.
