Bad Things Happen to Good People
“; for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal,” 2 Corinthians 4:18 NASB.
Once again my intentions for writing today have been changed. Lives have been changed. Lives have been lost. The nation is still numb from the events Monday on the campus of Virginia Tech University. The inconveniences of our trip to New England this past weekend are just that; inconveniences compared to the atrocities committed by the young man, Cho Seung-Hui.
At times like this, humans often want to blame God. That idea is food for another essay. Suffice for now that God did NOT cause this terrible act! Bad things happen to good people. Since the fall from grace in the Garden of Eden, mankind has encountered tragedies. We may choose the shelter and comfort from God or deny Him and suffer even more through the painful times. In the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew records the words of Jesus; "for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous," Matthew 5:45b.
For today and the coming days I will be adding to my prayer list the families of those lost at the hands of one acting on behalf of the Prince of Darkness, Satan. Will you join me?

This is a partial list by supplied by AP, updated Wednesday morning, and 4/18/07. Please add to your list those whose names may be released in the coming days. Don’t forget the others for whom you need to pray for. It doesn’t take as long as you would think to pray for even one hundred people by name; maybe three to five minutes. God will take it from there.
Prayerfully, Mike
