Bulk E-Mail Software
4/8/2007 4:07:33 PM
    Hello:

I am into marketing and I am trying to a huge audience. Does anyone here know a great but inexpensive Bulk Mail Software program I can use. I am trying different programs and I would like some input from anyone who has used such a program and what they think of it.

Please let me know. I would really appreciate it very much.

Thanks

Hi Ray,

It's not so much the software that becomes your biggest issue when "bulk mailing". Your ISP will have a LOT to say if you're going to try and mail from your desktop.
If you have a hosting service they will equally have some concerns, PARTICULARLY if you are on a shared server and IP. One spam complaint can shut down every site sharing that IP (which can sometimes include many sites)

If you have your own host service there is PHPList (which is shareware) but to mail from your own host is going to require a LOT of communication and trust between you and the Webmaster/Host.

So suggesting Groupmail or any other software solution isn't really much of a solution, because there are many other issues that have to be considered. I personally use Groupmail free version for minimalist mailings of 300 per day (which is about the Maximum my ISP will allow me without a commercial account and a lot more money than I'm prepared to pay.

What that leaves most of us (at least in the interem until we can afford to set-up our own mailing system) is to utilize the services of companies who provide bulk mailing services. The costs are much smaller and manageable, and if your campaigns are well put together, should be completely self supporting through increased sales, hopefully some day putting you in that position whereby you can create your own.

I hope I've clarified some of these issues for you, and invite anyone else to chip in with something I missed, or thoughts of their own.
