Hello Marilyn,

The closest relative to procrastination is change on the opposite side of the coin, most people dislike change which is why procrastination has such a hold on most of us and our lives, making it so acceptable so easily. Some of us right now reading this post will comment; that I don’t know what I am talking about, perhaps not publicly but to themselves they say that I am off the track. However, I call them relatives because if it were not for procrastination so much in the world would be different.

Take for instance solar power, for decades both private industry and governments alike has postponed (Procrastinated) to lobby for the institution of the greatest achievement in the history of mankind since the caveman’s discovery of fire. They drag their feet not only because it would afford the world a freedom from combustibles but change the way that they, both government and private industry alike, make their money. They all profit from the use of fossil fuels in one manner or another.

Not just in this situation alone but procrastination has a stem in basically every branch of today’s life here on earth. Had we as a people worldwide demanded the change from fossil fuels to clean solar energy and the use of ethanol for vehicles decades ago, the earth would not be in the shape that it is currently. We would have assured a place for our families so much further into the future than the sixty or so years that we currently have till the earth begins to change to a place that we don’t know in appearance.

Melting solar caps, glaciers slipping off into the ocean as they melt will change this place which we call home. Our children’s great grand children may not even be a possibility, because we as a people, society has procrastinated them out of what we were given by our ancestors, we can not secure for them the same that was secured for us, simply because of our actions or should I say non-action?

Procrastination and Change the two words that are making such a difference in our home; the planet Earth, even though some of us are unaware of it.

I sincerely hope that you all don’t think me crazy for this post, because I am as you should be thinking about people whom I don’t know, and should the earths current inhabitants not change the way that they live, those people may never even come to exist. If they do just for the sake of being, will they have the opportunity to walk in the grass, or smell honeysuckle, watch bee’s collect honey or see due in the morning, or will they even have the pleasure of the smell of freshly cut grass, think about that.
