HAPPY 50th USA Residency to Afe and Hane!
Next week, my husband's aunt and uncle are celebrating their 50th year as USA residents! Their names are Eve and Henry, but the pronunciation of their names is different in Dutch, they are called Afe and Hane. The word for aunt is Tanta and the word for uncle is Oom (pronounced Ome) ... That would be Happy 50th in USA for TANTA AFE and OME HANE! YAY!
They were both born and raised in Indonesia, both are half Dutch and half Indonesian. They were married in 1948-49...one of those years, and I think they moved to the Netherlands for a short time and then here to Michigan in February 1957. They speak Indonesian, Dutch, and of course, English...but still with an accent because they always with each other and keep their youthful memories alive in their hearts and their manner of speaking .
Did you know that the VanHalen brothers are also Dutch/Indonesian? Here they are performing their classic "Dance The Night Away" with Eddie VanHalen on guitar and Alex VanHalen on drums, and the blond bomb David Lee Roth singing doing his thing (he recently became an Emergency Medical Technician when he turned 50 a few years ago): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFlEWvB2aRM
