Hi Everyone,
My reign is running down, but it will never be forgotten. This has been the best week in my life. It feels so good to be liked for who you are and not for how much you are worth. Money is not going to get anyone to Heaven, but love, trust, and decency will. This week has been special because you all had something nice to say about me. Do I joke even when I'm in pain? I know that a lot of you have had that question on your minds. Well, I'm going to tell you two short stories. It'll only take a couple of hours.
In June of 1994 I was being rushed to the hospital with a Heart Attack. The two nurses were trying to keep me calm. I said, "Slow down. I hear sirens. Let them pass." One nurse had a shocked look on her face, patted me on the arm and said, "It's okay!! You're in an ambulance. We're taking you to the hospital." I feably pointed towards the back door and asked, "Then why are all those cars passing us? Tell the driver to step on it. I could die, you know." The nurse's face turned white as a sheet. While the doctors were busily tending to me I spotted a nice looking nurse and called her over. I whispered to her, but she couldn't hear me, She bent over and I whispered again. She still couldn't hear me. I motioned for her to come closer. She bent over more, I smiled and said, "It's okay now. I wanted to see if you were wearing a bra. I'm happy now." They snickered but the doctor was upset. In an irritated voice he said, "Sir, do you realize how serious this is? If we don't get your vitals back to normal, you could die!!" I grimaced and said, "I know, and if I do, I want to die Happy. Any objections?"
You see, the last thing that I want to hear before I die is laughter. The is much too much sadness in this world and a little bit of laughter will go a long, long way.
We always have and always will trust people. Shirley and I have been working very hard on this up-coming event on the 27th, and because of the dishonesty of the people working with us, we will fail. They have gotten no donations to our thirty-five donations, they promished to take care of the advertising and did nothing leaving us to scramble to do it ourselves, they sold no tickets at all, Shirley and I have been on line and on the phone doing it ourselves, and the day of the event they will take all the credit. So, between coming in and thanking you wonderful people for your responses, plus trying to pull everything together by ourselves this community of true friends has kept us going. I thank you so much for that.
Although I did not want to bring that subject up, it has been weighing on my mind. It is so difficult to be feeling sad and happy at the same time, and perhaps it is the realization of getting ready to go back to the real world. When Sandy takes all the credit, so be it. We know that if it happens at all it was us, not her that made it happen. When it is over, I will take her aside and let her know that we no longer need her help.
Thank you all, once again, for giving me the best week of my entire life.
God Bless You
Mike
