Thanks Marilyn,
I know it has been a while...
I would just like to share with you all,
What Is A Leader?
How many times have you hear this…
You need to become a leader… Just what is that, and where do you find the instruction manual? Let’s look at some leaders, and what it means to be one.
Webster says… A person or thing that leads; guiding head. Seems pretty simple right? Then why is it so heard to get someone to be one? Or are we one and don’t even realize it?
Let’s start with a simple example, our home. Who leads in are homes, and what do they do? Most of you if not all have experienced leadership in some form or another, helping some one make a right decision.
Did you get that? People are programmed to be told what to do…
From are birth we are told what to do by someone, parent, teacher, clergy, boss, or maybe just a bully.
Men RULE with words, think about that… Any one wishing to GUIDE another person must tell them what to do. Who taught you to drive a car? How did they get that right to do that? Was it someone that knew how to drive? Would you consider that person a leader? Of course, they told you what to do and even took you by the hand and showed you.
Have you EVER told someone what to do because you yourself had experience in the matter and wanted to help them to do it right.
Just as you were taught by someone who had the experience, you repeat the process.
I’m sure you heard if you want to be a leader you must be first a good follower. In other words listen up, and pay attention, and learn from the person that is telling you how to do,(REPEAT AFTER ME). Weather you write it down, or listen to it over and over to get it right.
I’m sure you were told hundred times about something you were trying to do and not getting it right, till you did it right, or gave up!
We are all leaders to some extent; we were taught a certain amount of information about what we do in life to earn a living. Content at the moment, we settle for a very small amount of information that earns us a meager living. We then pass this small amount of information to our children, and they continue to follow in the same path, we have become leaders with a small amount of info to tell others with the same outcome.
Men rule with words…
Let’s look at some leaders that have inspired hundreds, or even thousands, how did they do that? How did they move people to do what they wanted them to do? Two things, WORDS, and INFORMATION, they brought to the table words, and information that people listen to and followed.
How would you go about doing this? If we are programmed to be told what to do by an authority of experience, then how do YOU begin to become a leader that moves others?
When we WANTED to learn how to drive a car, we ask someone that KNEW how to, and would tell us HOW. It is that simple! Do you WANT too learn how to be that kind of leader? You have to WANT it and Do it. You WANTED to learn how to drive a car, you LISTENED and did it.
We take people that say they want to work from home, from a work environment were they are constantly told how to work, and then tell them they have to be a leader.
First do they WANT to do that? Second are you prepared to help them get there? Do you have the words and information to tell them what to do?
They want to be told what to do! They need to be told what to do, to get to the leadership level that they can help someone else do the same.
Just as driving a car is usually passed on by someone that can TELL and SHOW you how to do it.
Remember we are all leaders, we all tell someone what to do in one way or another. A command, “Go to this web site” or we persuade them “If you love me keep my commandments”. Learning words and information from someone that can move others with words is becoming the leader you WANT to be.
I’m convinced we try to talk people into a leadership they either do not want, OR we fail to use the right words and information to do the job.
Let’s all strive in this industry to learn from the few that are willing to TELL and SHOW us how to do it right. How to be leaders that care for people, not just there money, how to build relationships not down lines,
And teach by example not hype. Be who you are and what you want to become, treat others exactly like you want to be treated, you will reap exactly what you sow…
Let’s become the leaders that EVERYONE will want to follow by using words and information to BUILD up others, and TELL them how much they are capable of doing by following a simple outline of WORDS and INFORMATION.
I’m here to serve you,
Pat Ritrosky
