John Elliott and Luella May welcome you to the Ninth Edition of
Women of Courage
Each week we will honor a woman that has truly made a difference by her
contributions, courage, love, and selflessness. Women honored will be chosen from inside AdlandPro, outside AdlandPro, living in the present, and yes, we will not forget those heroines that paved the way for the freedoms we now enjoy. We will honor women who have shown tremendous courage and fortitude against all odds.
Assisting us in coordinating these awards are four outstanding ladies who are Women of Courage in their own right.

WE PRESENT TO YOU OUR NINTH
WOMAN OF COURAGE
Princess Diana
Queen of Hearts
This most beautiful of fairy tales was really the saddest of all. It was about Diana, Princess of the people.
Very seldom do we have someone that walks into the limelight that is nothing less than adored by the public. Princess Diana was such a person. She was not only adored by her own countrymen, but she was adored throughout the world.
She was not quite prepared to be thrust into the limelight to be disected by the media and the public. Who was this Lady Diana chosen to marry Prince Charles? We watched as the shy school teacher prepared to take on a regal role. The media and the public were simply mesmerized by her. Her beauty, the way she carried herself, her shyness. I would eagerly see how Princess Charles would help her along in certain protocol. This was indeed a real life fairy tale. Lady Diana Spencer would marry her true Prince Charming.
Ah, but there was a hiccup along the way. There was a photo throughout the tabloids of lovely Lady Diana crying. The heartache had begun. Perplexed I watched. Such a lovely lady with such a wonderful life in front of her surely shouldn't be crying.
Almost as if all heartache had disappeared I watched the most beautiful wedding in the entire world. Something every little girl dreams of. Oh, the gown! The carriage! The guests! The Queen! The Prince! It was all so very beautiful. I sat glued to the TV set as I watched Lady Diana Spencer become the Princess of Wales, Her Royal Highness.
I remember when Prince William was born. Her loyal subjects, even those in America watched with joy. And then came Prince Harry. You could see the love this most beautiful Princess had in her heart. You could see how she loved her children and how her children loved her, how they would run to her with pure joy. The love in her heart was unmistakable.
However, as time went on, she could no longer hide the pain in her heart. I guess living in a most wonderful fairy tale and being a beautiful princess demands a lot of responsibility. And I guess there is no law that says that a beautiful princess cannot face the worst emotional pain. We heard accounts of sadness, bulimia, problems in the marriage. A problem that was there the first time we saw Lady Diana cry. No one knows the weight she felt in her heart. We watched as her sadness and despair grew to unmanageable proportions and her Prince Charming needed her no more.
Ah! But through her pain, through being studied by the media and the public as through a microscope, through the most awful of gossip and criticism, our Princess did not waver. Our Princess went on to shine even more than when she had been married to her Prince Charming. Our Princess poured all the love that she had in her heart out to the people. I will never forget when she shook a lady's hand that was suffering from aids. When this disease was new and ripe and fear abounded, our Princess loved enough to transmit her love through the sense of touch. And I do believe that she risked her life while doing that. So great was her love.
Diana, Princess of Wales, continued to love people throughout the world. She gave her life to the people, comforting and loving them, forgetting, or maybe putting aside her own pain.
I will never forget the evening that my daughter called me while crying, Princess Diana is dead! It is one of those things where you think, "that's impossible!" You cannot believe it. But as tears streamed down my face, I watched the account of the car accident. Our Princess maybe had found happiness and one last time it had been snatched from her. The most loveliest of fairy tales had ended.
I became glued to the television throughout the entire funeral. Until there was no more to watch. There was no prince to rescue our beautiful princess with a kiss.
Diana, Princess of Wales will never be forgotten. As the years go by, her memory lives strong in our hearts. We tell our children of the loveliest Princess that ever lived and her memory lives on. Never, have I seen such love flow from such a prominent figure. Diana had it all, but she gave of herself to the people.
This week I chose Diana, Princess of Wales, as our Woman of Courage. A Lady, a Princess, a Queen of Hearts.
