Hi Marilyn.

I fought myself constantly questioning everything I said and did.
My family had taught me to have high moral standards. They were
very strict. One day I was talking to myself and
one of my fellow workers told me "you can drive yourself
crazy doing this". I realised I didn't like myself very much
and it took me a while to break the habit. He was right.

None of us are perfect and we sometimes slip and say
or do things we are sorry for later. I found that when
I concentrated on learning instead of constantly
questioning, I started to listen. Then I forgave myself
for not being perfect. I put up a sign on my desk
that read:

"Caution: Be sure brain is engaged before putting
mouth in gear".

I had won the war with myself. I became better at being
me.
