weird facts of the day 12.11.06

Weird Fact of the Day: There is a species of bird, Antpitta avis canis Ridgley, that barks like a dog. Since its introduction in February 1935, more than two hundred million Monopoly board games have been sold worldwide. Scatologists are experts who study feces. (aka. crap, dung, dookie, dumps, feces, excrement, etc.) Ants do not sleep. The only bone fully grown at birth is located in the ear. Business.com is currently the most expensive domain name sold for $7.5 million. The city of Denver was originally chosen to host the 1976 Winter Olympics, but had to withdraw because Colorado voters rejected to finance it. The average US worker toils for two hours and 47 minutes of each working day just to pay income tax. Indeed, the average American pays more in taxes than for food, clothing and shelter put together. Hundreds of years ago, only the wealthy people used to wear underwear. There is enough concrete in the Hoover Dam to pave a two lane highway from San Francisco to New York. When telephone companies first began hiring telephone operators, they chose teenage boys for the job. They switched to women because the teenage boys were wrestling instead of working and pulling pranks on callers. Several well documented instances have been reported of extremely obese people flushing aircraft toilets whilst still sitting on them. The vacuum action of these toilets sucked the rectum inside out. The average life of a taste bud is 10 days. You burn more calories sleeping than you do watching T.V On average, 100 people choke to death on ball-point pens every year.

Hello Larry,

Wow,  some more information we did not know about
and to give 'food for thought' over.  As some of these facts are quite impressive as I did not know or think about them while the others are good to know, yet wonder why anybody would write records of them anyway!

Thanks for sharing.

Kind regards

Hi Larry,

Once Again, many, many things that I didn't know.  I appreciate that you share these each week.  Judging by Brittney Spears recently, I guess Rich People have now forsaken Underwear also.

Have A Great Week,

Phil

Well, Larry, you have again enlightened my world. Since you burn more calories sleeping than watching TV, I guess that is why so many people fall alsleep while watching the tube. Keep up the good work, I hope I don't have to miss anymore of your treasures.
