Bonjour Gaketa,

Yes, this is very interesting.  I did know of this theory behind "the Twelve Days of Xmas".

Each year we have a Xmas evening in our little village church here in Plaigne.  Each year I do a song and some poems or little sketches with the children.

Last year we did the 12 Days of Xmas.  They sang the song in English.  My children had coloured pictures for each of the gifts and they were held up for everyone to see.

I got the children to read out the explanation for each day in English and I translated the explanations into French which were also read out by the children, so that everyone could understand.  The French children found it a little difficult to learn the English song but they practised with me and my children, who are bilingual.

The song was a great success.

I must point out, as I did that evening, that this is a theory and perhaps not strictly true history.  There are those who try to prove it to be true history and those who try to prove the opposite. Doesn't take the message away from it though.

Best wishes,
Sarah
