Richard is a very kind man, a true gentleman whom I am proud to know. He is very caring and considerate person. He treats people with upmost respect and has shown me nothing but kindness and consideration. He is truly an asset to this community. He has written a book called "Slavers" which will be published very soon and I am honoured to say that he chose me to be on the cover. Thank you Richard for making me feel special. I am honoured to have you as a friend.

I was born in a little coal mining town in eastern Pennsylvania called Tamaqua. I got my formal education in the US Navy, Modesto Junior College and the University of Santa Clara. I worked for two years at what was then named Lawrence Radiation Lab but is now Lawrence Livermore Labs (I think that term, radiation, was bad public relations...lol). I was assigned to Site 300 which was the high explosive test area where we worked on bomb design. I got into the insurance business literally on a dare. Dick Hasty, an insurance broker, dared me to try the insurance business part time and Allstate was looking for a part-time agent in Tracy. I tried it and six months later resigned from the Lab and went into the business full time. I did well enough that they moved me to Reno, NV and told me to build the state operation. For over thirty years I recruited, hired, trained and motivated sales people to build successful insurance agencies both with Allstate and Farmers Insurance Group.
When I finally retired, I really didn't. I have my own group health agency, work actively in building my, The Country Club and BizBuzz businesses, write novels and am developing an Internet video program to help folks be successful in home-based businesses. My good friend, Jill Bachman, whom I've known for almost a decade, has been my mentor in the Internet business and, truthfully, without her help (and insistence !!) I probably would not be doing what I am now.
I've been married to Bess (Betsy) for over 36 years - second marriage for both of us. We have five kids - one adopted - and six grandchildren. She is the office manager for a large insurance operation and not quite ready to retire. Besides loving her completely, I really like her. We enjoy being together and we talk a lot. She is bright, has a rare sense of humor, sees through me like I was a piece of glass so I don't bother trying to hide pieces of me from her. You could say we are very comfortable with each other. And she is very pretty.
In our spare time - I use $'s and O's (see my Adlandpro forum) a lot so I have spare time - we like to visit Bodega Bay on the Pacific Coast of California (it was where Hitchcock's movie, The Birds, was filmed), drive the back roads to interesting and historical places, go to museums and aquariums, enjoy boating on the Sacramento Delta and exploring the old Gold Rush places from 1849.
I plan not to retire. I enjoy the life that I've been blessed with and believe I can contribute to the success of other people. I really enjoy helping folks succeed, especially those for whom success has been difficult.
I certainly appreciate the honor to be one of the people featured here in Adlandpro. I've made a lot of good friends whom I would never have met outside of this community. I want to thank all who work so hard to keep this successful.
