Dear Linda,

May hope and faith bring you and your family peace during this difficult time.  I will continue to pray for Lena, Kassie, your niece, you and your family.  May God lay His Healing Hand upon you all.

God Bless

Hi Angela!

============
It's great to see such response here. The fact that Lena is trying to open her eyes shows that the power of prayers is working. It just makes me feel all warm and bubbly inside thinking about the feeling it must have given all of you. ============

Oh, I so completely agree! My sister was telling me all about it. My sis (the twins Gramma) had been reading all about preemies so that she would have a better understanding of everything that's happening so she could comfort and teach her daughter. (the mommy)

She read that, in utero, babies first open their eyes at 26 weeks or so. It describes how their little faces scrunch up and what they do when they are trying to open their eyes.

So, when Lena started scrunching her wee face exactly the way it had described in the preemie books, my sister knew right away what she was trying to do! It was very exciting for all of them. I can hardly wait until they say the babies are opening their eyes and looking at their Mom!

============
I couldn't even imagine going through that with my kids. They are my heart before Anyone. The hardest part has to be for the mom.....who cannot hold them for the pain it would cause. Remind her that god is holding them as they grow.
============

Yes, that part is so hard for her. She asked the doctors if she could just slip one finger in the wrappings so she could touch them and they would know Mommy is there. The doctors said no... the babies are so small that even touching them with one finger could change their body temperature. So she sits and whispers to them instead because their little ear drums are still very fragile.

: )

UPDATE: Good News Sunday Oct 22 (obscene hour of the night)

I just heard from my sister. The doctors have taken the plastic wrappy stuff off the twins because they are holding their own temperature. Kassie is holding on to her Mommy's finger and Lena is trying to open her eyes. Here is a new photo, just taken tonight. Keep the prayers coming, and thank you so much.

Go, babies go!! We're cheering and praying for you!

And MORE good news:

As my niece has been trying to cope with this, she had one wish. You see, her babies were born with stage IV IVH.  That means stage 4 blood on the brain. Blood on the brain is normal for preemies because they are not developed.

But there are stages. And the doctors said stage 1 and 2 babies have high odds of survival - stage 3 and 4 IVH have little hope. So, my niece kept saying that if only she could find one real live person - that has been through this and would talk to her on the phone, it would make all the difference in the world to her.

I found that person - right here at Adland. Deborah, I will love you forever!

Tomorrow my niece will have your number in her hand. I am so humbled and honored and grateful that I wanted the whole world to know how wonderful you are! Inside of 24 hours, we found someone that can give her the support she so desperately needed, and her babies have stabilized in temperature.

The power of prayer is incredible! God bless you all!

(((hugs)))
Linda
