Your Feelings
10/15/2006 2:12:03 AM

Please let me know your feelings on this topic as it is taking place everywhere, every state and every province, and if something is not done before long, then it will lessen the ethics that we have been brought up with. The fathers of our fathers of our fathers have passed on generations of family values that we have all lived by and now the direction that we need has been taken away. There is a very old saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it" Your opinions are appreciated whether it is for or against - Peace and Love have always been the way, and I wish you all both!

Dear God:

Why didn't you save the school children at ?. ..

Reply:

Dear Concerned  Student:

I am not allowed in schools.

Sincerely,

God

----------------------------------------------------------

How did this get started?...

-----------------

Let's see,
I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained
she didn't want any prayer in our schools.

And we said, OK.

------------------

Then, someone said you better not
read the Bible in school,
the Bible that says
"thou shalt not kill,
thou shalt not steal,
and love your neighbors as yourself,"

And we said, OK...

-----------------

Dr. Benjamin Spock said
we shouldn't spank our children
when they misbehaved
because their little personalities
would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem.

And we said,
an expert should know what he's talking about
so we won't spank them anymore..

------------------

Then someone said
teachers and principals better not
discipline our children when they misbehave.
And the school administrators said
no faculty member in this school
better touch a student when they misbehave
because we don't want any bad publicity,
and we surely don't want to be sued.

And we accepted their reasoning...

------------------

Then someone said,
let's let our daughters have abortions if they want,
and they won't even have to tell their parents.

And we said, that's a grand idea...

------------------

Then some wise school board member said,
since boys will be boys

and they're going to do it anyway,
let's give our sons all the condoms they want,
so they can have all the fun they desire,
and we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school.

And we said, that's another great idea...

------------------

Then some of our top elected officials said
it doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs.

And we said,
it doesn't matter what anybody,
 including the President,
does in private as long as we have jobs and the economy is good....

------------------

And someone else took that appreciation a step further
and published pictures of nude children
and then stepped further still by
making them available on the Internet.

And we said, everyone's entitled to free speech....

------------------

And the entertainment industry said,
let's make TV shows and movies tha t promote
profanity, violence and illicit sex...
And let's record music that encourages
rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes...

And we said,
it's just entertainment
and it has no adverse effect
and nobody takes it seriously anyway,
so go right ahead.

------------------

Now we're asking ourselves
why our children have no conscience,

why they don't know right from wrong,
and why it doesn't bother them to
kill strangers, classmates or even themselves.

------------------

Undoubtedly,
if we thought about it long and hard enough,
we could figure it out.
I'm sure it has a great deal to do with...

"WE REAP WHAT WE SOW,"

------------------

Pass it on
if you think it has merit!
If not then just discard it...
But if you discard this thought process,
then don't you dare sit back and complain about
what bad shape this country is in!

Hello Nick

This is not justan american thing - it happenns here as well - and is probably world wide.

We have always said get rid of the do gooders and we will probably get rid of half the problems in the world.

Why should we be politically correct - why should we not be able to bring our children up as we feel fit.

It all goes back to WW11 and our generation who wanted to give our kids what we didnt have. A fine sentiment, that was carried too far by future generations.

We need to get back to basics and give our kids the upbringing they deserve both morally and physically.  Those that go beyond the norm can be punished in the normal chanels.

Back to the Ten Commandments and family life and get rid of the so called"do gooders" of this world.

Thank you Nick. Now I know I am not the only one that didn't
agree when these decisions were made by the court system
and by various government agencies.

Hier Spock was a Nazi war criminal, and was sent to the US
to demoralise our population by removing the punishment
aspect of discipline.

The human is an animal and like an animal must have
disciplinary action especially between the ages of 1 to
5 when the mind is formulated and set in as personality.

Without true guidence, the human being grows up disrespecing
each other and with no clear picture of right and wrong,
a severe breakdown in the principles that make up a
civilization results.

There is a reson that society made up the unwritten laws
of respect and discipline. It was used for thousands of years
and now, just in the last couple of decades, we thought
we knew more than the billions of people that lived
before us.

Hi Nick.

This is a tough one. The prayer in school issue I agree with. Living in a multicultural nation like Canada, I have seen first-hand how uncomfortable Muslim and Hindu children were (when I was a kid) with having to sit through Bible verses and the Lord's prayer. We have separate Catholic and Christian school boards, which are publicly funded (taxpayers are given the choice of where their taxes should go), offering parents a choice.

However, the lack of discipline I also see on a daily basis. It's ridiculous. A grade seven teacher I know once said, with kids in that age bracket being the hardest to deal with: "Kids today know all of their rights, and none of their responsibilities." When a child gets in trouble at school, the parents duke it out with the school (remember when a call home from the principal was tantamount to calling the cops? what was waiting at home was certainly worse than anything the school could do). When a child acts out in class, the parents as why the teacher isn't doing a better job keeping control.

No yelling. No scolding. No spanking. Even from parents.

I run a junior choir, and there are kids that sometimes get out of control. What bothers me is that when I lose my temper -- and they are in trouble -- they don't even feel as if they've done something bad. We as adults are in a sticky situation then. If children don't know they're behaving badly, how will they ever know right from wrong? And if we can't at least scold them, how will they know they're behaving badly?

I'm not advocating beating the snot out of a kid. But I did get spanked when I did something horrible (and it had to be horrible to get to that point), and I don't believe I have any psychological damage as a result.

Thank you Nick for sharing your feelings. I didn't agree when these decisions that were made by the court system either.  I went to both public and Catholic schools and in my day the Lord's Prayer and the Pledge Allegiance to the Flag was the start of everyday.
