	Dear friends, I will present now a few of Edouard Manet's most representative works - at least, those that I consider to be his most representative works. To follow a certain logic, let me start with this magnificent self-portrait of 1879. Edouard Manet - Self Portrait with Palette (oil on canvas, 1879)

	It was Manet's early belief that only acceptance of his works by the Salon of Paris would bring him recognition, but ironically enough, it was precisely their rejection of his Dejeuner Sur L'Herbe, shown below, that achieved him that goal though in a negative way. 	And here is Manet's most famed Olympia, of 1863. I guess it doesn't need presentation, only a mention that it caused a similar uproar from the same critics that little before had rejected his Dejeuner Sur L'Herbe. Edouard Manet - Olympia (oil on canvas, 1863)
