	The Journey I was lifted and taken out of the door Carried out of the house by my mother And placed upon a blanket Lumps and bumps I never felt before. I did my best to sit up. My eyes fell upon some strange faces. Nothing familiar smells and sounds And strange faces all around. I felt fear and wonder in the scene. "Smile!" came a voice from the croud. It was deep and thundering loud. I thought to my self "what does this mean" I gathered all my courage to speak but what I uttered was soft and weak And in frustration I began to cry I could not speak, I wondered why. Years later I told my mother She explained "You were 6 months old or under" We took your picture then I knew why She pulled out a picture of this little guy. A tattered worn out black and white She said "this is you, a precious site You cried and we took this when Our family came to visit back then." So we talked on my mother and I And she understood my tears and wiped them dry Just like she did in her gentle way My first baby picture was taken that day.
