Your Favourite Knitted Baby Clothes Pattern

Hello everyone, Here is my contribution to the collection of baby clothes patterns. From Christine Gleeson aka CurrencyLass

 Rugs with Raised Block Stitch

 

MEASUREMENTS

 

Pram Cover                        45 x 60 cm

                                             18 x 24 ins

Cot Cover                          65 x 100 cm

                                             26 x 40 ins

 

PATONS YARN REQUIRED –

TOTEM 8 PLY 50G BALLS

Pram Cover                                    5

Cot Cover                                      10

 

IMPORTANT! Use only the yarn specified for these items. Other yarns may give unsatisfactory results. Quantities are approximate as they can vary between knitters.

 

1 pair of 5.00mm (No 6) Knitting Needles or size needed to give correct tension. A 4.50mm (No 7) Crochet Hook.

 

TENSION - 20 sts to 10cm in width over stocking st, using 5.00mm Needles. To work tension square, use 5.00mm Needles, cast on 30 sts. Work in stocking st until work measures 15cm from beg, ending with a purl row. Cast off loosely. Please check your tension carefully. If less sts use smaller needles, if more sts use bigger needles.

 

NOTE – These items have been worked over a looser tension than normally recommended.

 

 

Covers

FOR PRAM COVER – Using 5.00mm Needles, cast 79 sts.

FOR COT COVER – Using 5.00 Needles, cast 127 sts.

FOR BOTH – 1st row - *K7, P1, rep from* to last 7 sts, K7

2nd row - *P7, K1, rep from * to last 7 sts, P7, REP 1st and 2nd rows once.

5th row - *K3, P1, rep from * to last 3 sts, K3.

6th row - *P2, K1, P1, K1, P2, K1, rep from * to last 7 sts, p2, K1, P1, K1, P2.

7th row – As 5th row.

8th row – As 2nd row.

Rep 1st and 2nd rows once, then 1st row once.

12th row – Knit

Rep rows 1 to 12 incl 10 times for Pram Cover or 20 for Cot Cover.

Rep rows 1 to 11 incl once.

Next row – Purl.

Cast off.

With right side facing and using 4.50mm Hook, work 5 rows of dc evenly round cover (working through both loops), working 3dc into each corner.

Fasten off.

With a slightly damp cloth and warm iron (unless stated otherwise on ball band), press lightly on wrong side.
