Thanks for the information.  I'm somewhat relieved to find that there are no registered offenders within a few blocks of here, but as I'm sure you know we are still grieving up here for a little girl who was a victim of someone who was not on the registry.  This little girl was unsupervised in her own back yard for less than five minutes and just dropped off the face of the earth as far as anyone could determine.  Her body was found a week later in the basement of a neighbor whose property abutted that of the victim's family.

I can remember wandering for blocks and blocks without my parents knowing where I was when I was not much older than little Destiny.  Whether the world was a safer place fifty years ago or whether I had a guardian angel I guess I'll never know.  But, although I'm going to pass this on to my kids so they can be warned, I'm also going to tell them not to let our little ones out of their sight for even a minute.
