Let me introduce the most awesome group of team mates anyone could ever have! Not only are they my very good friends, but I also have the pleasure of working with them to bring this forum to all of you, each and every week;

Here are the qualifications that will be used in the selection of each honoree. People that are selected will be recognized based on:

1. Acts of kindness that they show to their fellow man.

2. Must be willing to help others, and treat people in a kindly manner.

3. Have a good-hearted nature, and shows it through all that they do.

The Meaning of The Name VENERINA:

The latin word venus is means "love". It is derive the Sanskrit word vanas meaning "loveliness, desire" , which is cognate to Venus.
Venerina is the diminutive form of Venus, Venera.

Venus was a major Roman goddess principally associated with love and beauty, the rough equivalent of the Greek goddess Aphrodite. She was considered the ancestor of the Roman People by way of its legendary founder, Aeneas, and played a key role in many Roman religious festivals and mythologies.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy ….. Saying that Marilyn and Georgios rendered me speechless, AGAIN, when they announced this honour to me …. Would be an understatement!!! Thank you to you all for this truly truly special award!!!

About me? … where do I start?… How much time do you all have? It’s a trilogy already!!!

I was born in the UK from a Scottish – French mother and a Sicilian father. Do I hear someone say: “what a combination”? … hehehehehe … well … my parents were always working so I spent most of my early years with my grandparents, (my mum’s parents); whom I loved deeply. They taught me word games and mind puzzles and had my brain always on the go, my grandmother taught me how to knit. As well as being a World War II hero, my Scottish grandfather, George, was definitely my hero. He use to make up excuses to my grandmother, about going to the newsagent and taking me with him, just so he could go and have a quick flutter on the horses, in the bookies!!! And then he’d bribe me into silence with a sherbet dip …. hehehehehe.

My parents separated when I was 6 and both remarried. My stepfather, who died of a heart attack last year, was a wonderful man from Iraq, who had a great influence in my life, teaching me about culture and respect for other people, “who appear different to ourselves”, (as he use to put it), whereas my father married a regular “Cruella De Vil”, (from whom he is now divorced), and decided we should move back to his homeland in Sicily, so I had to learn a new language and a new way of living.

Since, my dad was out working all the time and I was in serious danger of being killed by Cruella, I spent most of my time running away from home and going to my grandmothers’ house, (my father’s mothers). I started working at the age of 13, during the summer months, in a cafè/bar type restaurant, just so I could save up and buy myself a motorcycle to get me there quicker!!! Hehehehehehehe

When I was 11, Cruella suffered a serious mental and nervous breakdown and was institutionalised for quite a while, I didn’t miss her!!!hehehehe. When she came home, I found myself having to look after her and despite the hate between us it was the only time we were minimally close because she had no choice heheheheh. None the less, it sparked my curiosity about human nature and psychology and the tricks our mind plays on us.

My Sicilian grandmother was my mother away from my mother. I idolised her. She was a simple woman with a cast iron will and a temper that would make most men blush!!! Hehehehe She couldn’t read or write but she always use to say to me: “the ancients use to say ….” And she would come out with quotes that I suddenly found myself learning, years later, in ancient Greek philosopher’s texts. She taught me how to make lace, crochet, sew, cook and when I made the bed up wrong, she would stand their glaring at me and say: “You’ll never find a husband if you can’t make the bed properly!!!” She was right … hehehehehe ….

I became an entrepreneur, you could say, at the age of 13/14, when I discovered I that I had psychic abilities. At that same time I translated and answered English test papers and exams throughout my college in exchange for money, sandwiches and bribes!! Nearly got me expelled but I made a nice profit!!! Hehehehehe …. And I, also, use to run my own motorcycle taxi service, for fellow students, to pay for my petrol throughout the winter months when I wasn’t working in the bar/cafè. I kind of always have been very independent, I guess.

At 18, after a big Sicilian style family feud, I ran away from Sicily and went back to the UK, to my mum. I studied and worked, until I became a professional singer/ television actress. Although I was enjoying some degree of recognition, through television work, travelling had always been my dream, so, I quit everything and followed a new path. 

I started working with my partner/colleague as a duo in 1995. We worked together in the Middle East for 2 years, (Dubai, Abu-Dhabi, Bahrain and Oman), 6 months in Shanghai , China, Cyprus for 3 years, visited most of the Scandinavian countries, (Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland), Russia, Egypt, Tunisia and most of the other European countries, (France, Germany, Spain, Portugal mainland, northern Italy, Switzerland), touched down with USA, Estonia, Latvia and many more … until we came across this small, beautiful island, Madeira, in the Atlantic Ocean which has become a kind of more permanent home, for me.

Although I loved the travelling, it wasn’t all bliss because my colleague and ex partner hated it and, as a consequence he became an alcoholic, emotionally and psychologically abusive. We split up, as a couple, in 1998 but still worked together until 2001. On these travels, I worked in 3 war zones entertaining US and British forces. In one place we had to perform with gas masks down by the side of the stage, I witnessed unbelievable, inhumane killing and atrocities, (so much pain and suffering); in another a car bomb went off, luckily no-one was injured and in another place, I use to wake up to the sound of threatening fighter jets chasing each other through the skies. It’s only in the face of a death threat that you truly find out what living really means. My heart goes out to the bravery of those who risk their life to defend their country and to their families.

I’ve been left for dead twice, once at the age of 21 and then in 2002, when I had a near fatal accident, which most of you may have read in the first edition of the Adland community newsletter, of which I am proud to be a team member, thanks to my dear friend Marilyn, if not:

That same year, I set up Global Business Services, http://www.gbs-Lda.com, (the new site) and http://www.global-business-services.com, (the old site), a business consultancy and services company, which won the Madeiran Government award for business Innovation 2002. I was the first woman and the first foreigner to ever achieve it and probably the last. My company’s claim to fame is that, in the past, we have done top-secret work for a few governments. I was fortunate enough to be hugged and kissed by the President of Madeira himself. 

We translated the whole construction project for the new Golf course on Porto Santo, which is used as a PGA stop.

We have helped people set themselves up in business both online and offline, through our consulting services, web design and promotion. We have helped a few people relocate globally. We have done software and site testing.

Everywhere I go I am foreigner, (even in my homelands), so I have to work twice as hard for everything. I wouldn’t change anything about my life; everything has taught me something and made me who I am today. I have had the pleasure of meeting people from just about every nationality on the planet, from all walks of life, who all taught me a little something about being a human being and left a mark in me that I will treasure for the rest of my life, a part from introducing me to what have been referred to as: “the old ways” … i.e. traditionalist philosophies for a more natural and healthy way of living.

I have adopted many many people, globally, as my CHOSEN family, including here at AdlandPro. I probably have more aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, than all the royal families, of the world, put together hehehehehe and I have been fortunate enough to have met several mentors/life tutors and have them show me the path to real success, (being at peace with myself and my life), to teach me the true meaning of life and how to live, keep me level headed throughout my singing/acting career and show me how to respect people for who they are and not what they have. I have mingled with the extremely rich and the extremely poor and found that all that matters in life is life itself and the determination with which one lives.

In 2004 I started a new venture, designing, making and selling costume jewellery, which can be found at my website: http://www.vcdesigns.net for which I am always on the lookout for resellers, party planners and distributors, (globally).

It’s still a new blog but soon I will be honoured to have some wonderful writing collaborators join me in discussing a whole new range of topics.

I have had two poems published in books in the USA, I have written articles for newspapers and newsletters, book reviews, site content and I have, now, just finished co-writing an e.book on crystals, their healing properties, where they come from, how to use and maintain them. All that’s missing are the pictures. When they’re done I will invite you all to the launch. I am, also, going to be collaborating with several friends here at Adland on various projects and I’m already drafting a couple more e.books about business and especially business models for women to follow, life management and “How to Juggle the Struggle”.

I try to make someone smile everyday and I hope to help inspire others to BECOME and OVERCOME, in the face of all adversities … because I know what it means to hurt, to be traumatised and to feel alone with the pain and the struggles.

Thanks to my closest childhood friend in Sicily, I have a beautiful 4-year-old godson, William, who last year fought for his life against cancer of the retina. Tragically, the eye couldn’t be saved but luckily it didn’t affect the brain. I consider him to be my gift from God, (not once but twice!!!)

What’s my next step in life? … Well, although I didn’t think it was possible, Cupid seems to have shown up in the strangest of places, here in Adland!!!. A wonderful knight in shining armour has started giving me a fairy tale to believe in and is conquering my heart, a little more every day, what kind of damsel would I be if I did not offer him the same in return?

So, I am currently looking for a job in the USA and I am open to any suggestions should anyone have any. I have applied for some jobs within the hospitality industry and Holistic Health. I’ve made enquiries about licensing for practicing in US and I have posted my resumè on various search engines but if anyone has any ideas or help to offer, to bring this fairy tale to life, my resumè can be found here:
