It looks like many people with a love of gardening are stopping by.
It is an exciting time for me in the garden. My gourd plants are getting the female flowers on and that means baby gourds. The hardshell gourds which I grow, have white flowers that look like crepe paper. There are both male and female flowers on gourd plants. They only open at night and so around 8pm I go out and do a little hand pollinating to make sure it gets done. I don't always trust the nighttime insects to get the job done right.
You are so right about composting. We have a number of piles around and get a good amount of compost to use each year.
When I had more time, I would drive around town in my truck and pick up the bags of leaves people left on the curb. We don't have any large trees in our yard and I would eye those bags of leaves up and want every single one of them.
