I popped over here after reading your post on Dave C's forum about signatures.
I won't repeat what I posted on Dave's forum, but I will add that I quite agree with you when you said to only post if you really have something to say (not to just get your advert seen). It is tiring, reading through posts that aren't really saying anything.
As an English teacher and proofreader, I'd like to add that people should perhaps slow down when they are posting, so that they make less spelling and grammar mistakes etc. This would mean that people might take them more seriously, especially when they are eventually trying to sell something. All to do with quality and what impression is being put across.
Another thing to do would be to read through your posting (preferably out loud), before submitting it, especially on forums like these, where you cannot preview before submitting.
If you take care and attention, people appreciate it, I believe.
