Great post! I've understood all your post. For a French-speaking person like I am it is difficult to build correct sentences. These contradictions are one of the warnings I received when I learned English at school (not a long time). By reading that, I think that I will re-read because it should not be very comprehensible;)

Hi morning Linda I totally agree with you; however, it's served us well for centuries, so let's all just enjoy it! I know you have a keen sense of humour Linda so, I'm sure you will love the story I'm going to relate to you. This was in an English newspaper: (Your neck of the woods actually, in Yorkshire!) "Mr and Mrs' Russell Peackock are proud to announce the birth of their first son Drew." Drew Peacock...... I ask you! Enjoy! Ian McKay

Hey There! Thank you for sharing that piece. A good friend of mine sent that to me, several years ago. I enjoyed it then, and I enjoyed it just as much today. Have an awesome day! Trina

Hi Linda & All, Not only is English full of such homonyms, synonyms (not sure of spelling), etc., it also has so much slang and local expressions, accents, etc. In the US, people can often tell where you are from, by the way you talk. Western states pronounce words quickly, southern states are famous for their slow drawl. When I was growing up in Arizona, a cousin visited from Ohio. I teased her about how she talked. Yes, she laughed at me too. The most memorable is the way she pronounced the word comb (coom). I have great esteem for everyone that even attempts other languages.
