Liberty League Goes To Court
6/4/2006 7:29:30 PM
Attorney General Slams Liberty League Scam By Trina L.C. Schiller (Phoenix, Ariz. – May 24, 2006) In the wake of consumer complaints, regarding false income claims, the Arizona Attorney General's Office has ruled against the personal development marketing company, Liberty League International, in a case of consumer fraud. According to the complaint filed in Maricopa County Superior Court, the company lured consumers into spending large sums of money (from $1,495 to $12,995 per person), promising substantial returns, if they promoted and used their personal development products and recruited new participants to the program. However, participants did not generate the commissions promised. In fact, most people did not even recover their initial investment. According to consumer letters received by MLM Watch Dog, one man was taken for $63,000.00, a blind couple was pressed to mortgage their home so they could invest $40,000.00, and a single mother was scammed out of $23,000.00. Liberty League International and its principles, Brent Payne and Shane Krider, have been ordered to pay $115,000.00 to cover the costs for attorney and investigation fees, and to provide consumer education regarding MLM scams. Victim restitution has not yet been established, but will be forthcoming. They have also been ordered to: Refrain from making unsubstantiated income claims. Advise potential customers of the correct percentage of participants who have made a profit through their participation in the Liberty League program. Refrain from making any false or deceptive statements in their marketing materials. Apparently, LLI has taken to heart, this court order. After reviewing their web site, they have implemented all of the income disclaimers possible. They also have included a statement saying that none of the testimonials have been paid for by the company. I wonder why they felt it necessary to make that claim? It is not very easy to get detailed information about the program. They not only have omitted income claims in their copy, but it seems as though the only way to get any real information at all is to join first. There is information on the products, but no pricing is visible. There are plenty of testimonials on the site as well as a nice sized list of extras that should be purchased for business operation. For example: If you want to take part in the conference calls, which they say is essential to success with the program, you have to pay LLI $33/month, which they graciously bill quarterly, for $99.00. (This is the only company that I have ever heard of that charges members to participate in conference calls, outside of normal long distance charges.) In light of the recent action by the Arizona Attorney General, I wonder what the future holds for Liberty League. Will people continue to throw their money away, or will LLI go under? This reporter's recommendation: Look, but don't touch. Trina, I normally do not respond to something like this because I do not want to devote too much negative energy to this sort of thing, but I feel I must since you brought it up. My wife and I have been very proud members of Liberty League International for over two years. I’m happy to say it’s totally changed our lives both financially and more importantly personally. We lead a totally different life then we had two years ago. The company has been in business for over 5 years and I ask you how many companies stay around that long if they are not legitimate? I can’t speak for Brent and Shane but I do know they did not want to spend too much negative energy on this for a mere $115,000. You see, we absolutely believe what you focus on you bring about more of it. None of the ads guaranteed anyone any money, but to comply with those that did not understand that, they sued and we decided to change our ads rather than spend energy on it. You know what happened after that our business has grown much faster than before. What was intended to hurt our business only took it to another level. We are now the fastest growing home based business ever. Why, because those that really see the big picture and are into their own personal development understand that you can create anything you really want to in life. Right now are you thinking a positive or negative thought? And during your day how many do you allow into your mind. We are not the only ones that teach this we just show you how you can control your thoughts daily and moment by moment. Think about it. If you want more information on many other people that have believed the same thing check out Ralph Waldo Emerson and his essay on Self-Reliance or Albert Einstein when he said “the problems of today will not be solved by the same level of thinking”. Go check out some more at http://www.tooursuccess.net and click on Stuff for Your Mind. Bottom line is this not everyone succeeds at Liberty League only because they either do not follow the simple system or they choose not to really work on themselves. They have to be willing to get uncomfortable; after all it’s not easy to control your conscious thoughts in order for your subconscious mind to really take over to create the life you want and desire. You see, you already know everything you need to know to become very successful you just don’t know you know it. For most of you; you will simply choose not to get it, but that’s your choice. I still wish you the best. Addressing the conferencing system for $33.00 a month. Let me know of a company that provides 800 number calls for all training and presentation calls with 16 live presentation calls a week and 12 training calls a week. By the way, these are all crystal clear even though they are live and interactive (we are able to block out background noise). We are also able to know now long each one of our guest have been on the call. The people that sued Liberty League remind me of the lady that wrote the Welfare Department and asked “I’ve just had my 6th child, what are you going to do about it.” Do you believe that every lawsuit is won by the right party? “McDonalds hot coffee was too hot and burned me, I didn’t know it was that hot.” For those of you that are still with me I’ll share a little story with you: This is little story of the cows and rhinos. Of course I can’t take credit for this it was developed by Scot Alexander, but here is my adapted version of it. There once was a heard of cows out in this cow pasture. And of course there was grass and manure all over the place. But out in the middle of this herd of cows was this rhino, and he was totally out of place. Six thousand pounds of muscle and thick armor of skin with this big horn sticking out of his head. And the rhino wanted to leave the cow pasture and go to the promise land. And off into the distance you can see the promise land. But to get to the promise land you must first go through the jungle. The jungle is filled with thrones, quicksand and hunters; but the rhino has that 6 inch thick skin. Contrary to the better judgment of the cows, and some of these seem to be very learned cows; the rhino leaves the cow pasture. And won’t you know there’s adversity, hunters shooting at him, quicksand etc. Eventually the rhino meets up with some other rhinos and they say to him we’ll help you get through the jungle. There will still be some adversity but we’ll show you where the quicksand is and you don’t have to walk into the arrows, right? It’ll still be a bit of a struggle but we’ll help you to make it a nicer ride. Eventually our rhino friend makes it through the jungle and to the promise land. And there is your wonderful Starbucks establishment; just kidding. What does our rhino do? Jumps back into the jungle. Why? To help the other fledgling rhinos get through the jungle. And then one day when as our rhino is relaxing, laying in his mud hole, he notices other rhinos coming out of the jungle. One by one they’re coming out of the jungle and he asks where are these rhinos coming from? And in a moment of clarity he realizes it must be the cow pasture. These rhinos were actually cows it’s just that they had been conned into believing they were cows. So convincingly that they even looked like cows, and even smelled like cows. We’re all rhinos. We were born risk takers; all this self imposed limitations, is all just a story. You’re either a cow or a rhino. You can have the respect of one or the other but not both. So how does this relate to you? Your cow side is your conscious mind and your rhino is your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind has all the answers for you to achieve anything you desire in life if you just know how to access it. Beyond Freedom will teach you how. Learn to just Love(n) (in) the MOMENT! To Your Success, Michael Berry PS: I will not devote any more energy to this, so don’t bother writing me directly.

Please don't shoot the messenger... I'm just a reporter. Thank you for the terrific story Michael. (Cows and Rhinos) As far as conferencing goes... I can participate in as many company conference calls as I like, for the cost of the long distance charge, which is 4c a minute. That works out to less than $2.00 a call. The nice thing is that if I don't go to any conference calls, say, I take a vacation, I don't have to pay anything. All I was trying to say is that I've never heard of any other MLM that charges a monthly fee to participate in conference calls. You are right, not every law suit is won by the deserving party. Way too many people file ridiculous personal injury suits, and come out the winner. However, when it comes to consumer fraud cases, I do believe that the Attorney General does do his/her job in investigating and ruling for the right party. This was a class action suit for consumer fraud, not a personal injury case, like the McDonald's coffee case, you referred to. I am happy for you, that you have had success with Liberty League. I wish you continued success in all of your ventures. Not everyone is as fortunate as you have been, and regardless of your success, there are many people out there who have been hurt by this company. Just because a company has made some success stories, doesn't necessarily mean that it is a good company. And just because a company has been around for five years, doesn't mean it's good either. There have been many bad businesses/scams that have been shut down by the government that hung around longer than that. Sometimes it just takes a while for them to get busted. Pyramid schemes have successes at the top, and failures at the bottom. Thank you again for your input. Trina

There are so many claims about Liberty League International, positive and negative, on the internet that it is hard to know if you are getting accurate information.  As with any planned purchase you should first find out any pertinent information about the company and its products.

One way to do this is by visiting http://www.libertyleagueinternational.info.  This is a site devoted strictly to any desired information about LLI and its products.  There is no offering of products on this site, as it is intended to be a informational resource only.  If the information seems to be helpful to you there is also a link to their main site.
