Thanks for keeping everyone alert for sure, but I agree with Helen. There's nothing on the CNN, McAfee, or Microsoft websites about a virus like this.
Whenever you see a severe virus warning, always be sure to check Symantec, Norton, and McAfee websites. They always have the latest news on existing threat levels posted right where you can get to it.
On the other hand, the lesson is clear: don't open emails with suspicious attachments, and certainly don't open just any attachment, especially if you don't know who it's from or don't recognize the file extension. It could be anything (I recently found a keystroke logger embedded on my computer that reported my E-Gold password to ... someone; I ended up losing money from that account without ever authorizing the transaction. Scary.)
