Hi Kathy,
With only 24 hours in a day I don't know how you do all that you do.
I'm a cancer survivor and for the last six years I've been raising funds for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life in my area. I was blessed to have good medical that paid for everything.
There are thousands upon thousands of people out there that do not have the means to buy medicine, wigs and other things. Many do not have family members to support and encourage them. There are those who don't have transportation to get to the doctors for treatments. The money I help raise addresses each of these issues along with advocacy, prevention and research.
I do this because I have other members who are survivors and I lost my grandmother who raised me, an uncle and a couple friends to this terrible disease. If my efforts can save a person from being diagnosed with cancer and possible keep a person from dying then it will all be worth it. Especially little children. We've lost several since our Relay began six years ago. It hurts to see them in pain and when you come back the next year only to find out they lost their battle hurts even worse.
To all of you please go and be checked. Especially men. Most men do not realize they to can get breast cancer. Right now 1 in 4 people are diagnosed with cancer and its estimated that in the near future it will be 1 in 2. This is why its so important that I do what I'm doing.
If any of you would like to make a donation you can go to a new site that the American Cancer Society created for volunteers to generate funds. Every donation goes to the American Cancer Society. The web site is
