It is quite amazing that Ms. Fonda is still walking around free, and absolutely absurd that she is being honored the way she is.
I guess if you're famous enough, you can get away with treason. It's interesting that only a few short years before Vietnam, if the administration even suspected that you weren't a loyal American, you could be incarcerated!
Here in Canada, we have the bizarre, as well. Many years ago, Louis Riel was hanged as a traitor (that's what they used to do to traitors both in the US and in Canada.) In recent years, however, he was given a posthumous pardon, redesignated a Canadian hero (he declared war on Canada during the Red River Rebellion) and a statue honoring him was erected.
As far as Ms. Fonda is concerned, I wonder how she would react if her home was invaded the way the South Vietnamese had their homes invaded?
